This collection came about because of our desire to produce a cut and sew range. Two years before, we had began developing samples in China that melded modern construction techniques and functional fabrics to modernize classic silhouettes. We faced many challenges due to our limited financial resources so it seemed wise to produce a range domestically in Los Angeles so that we could on top of any challenges that may arise.
While sharing our samples with people, the most well received style was the Kimono Stadium Jacket. We felt this was a garment that could be produced domestically but would need more items around it to help tell a story. Working with a production studio I tasked them with exploring possible embroidery techniques help us to have a distinctive appeal with the collection. We developed a unique velour embroidery to be used on the Kimono Stadium Jacket and found another embroidery option called a loose loop embroidery that has the appearance of a vintage loose thread.
Our first surPLUSSED BDU style was produced in limited quantities and we had received many requests for its rerelease. I felt this would be an opportunity to utilize the loose loop embroidery and adding it to a hooded sweatshirt to round out the assortment. We are extremely proud of how the collection turned out. Not only because of the dedication we put into it but also because of the ingenuity and resourcefulness we employed in order to create such a small assortment with so much character.
